Mahindra Verito

The Mahindra Verito is a vehicle that was always searching for love, though never quite seemed to find it.

It was the product of a collaboration between Renault and Mahindra that eventually fell apart, leaving the Mahindra company to try and raise its child on its own. It is one of those vehicles that has been hanging on a thread for the past decade, though somehow seems to keep chugging along.

The Birth of Mahindra Verito

The Mahindra Verito came around back in 2007 after a 51:49 joint venture of the Mahindra and Renault companies. At the time, it was actually known as the “Logan.” For three years, the car was hitting high points on the Indian market until the joint venture disbanded, forcing Mahindra to purchase Renault’s 49% stake to keep the car in production. It wasn’t until 2011, a year after the disbanding, that it was given the Verito name.

Technology and Innovations of the Mahindra Verito

The 2019 Mahindra Verito comes complete with a 1.5L DCi CRDi Diesel engine that utilizes a four-cylinder eight-valve design, providing a measly 65 bhp. It uses forward drivetrain and five-speed manual transmission. Some of the top features of the Mahindra Verito include the High Mount Stop Lamp, the front disc brake, and the cabin heater. It also comes with some modern safety features including an automatic braking system and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.

A Short Timeline of the Mahindra Verito (2011-Present)

Though the car had technically been rolling around since 2007, it wasn’t until 2011 that it received the Verito name. It was a carryover of Renault Logan with bland sedan styling and basic features. The only new things from the name switch were the Mahindra logo at the front, new upholstery, and new fog lamps.

Other than that, it came with many of the same features. The top variant included artificial wood inserts and a central dashboard layout. It finally received a bit of a facelift in 2012, and by 2013, the notchback version of the car was released. This model was known as the Verito Vibe.

The Mahindra Verito in the News

The Mahindra Verito – a Surprising Survivor

The Mahindra Verito was never made to be anything special. It was one of those cars that was made to get consumers from point A to point B with ease and practicality. The company skimped out on many of the high-quality features that could be seen in other similar vehicles, which is likely the reason that the car is running close to its demise at this time.
